Congratulations! You have successfully mastered the basics of music theory and music history, and are now ready to move to the next level of your studies. We now welcome you to the STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE BOOK 2 MUSIC THEORY & HISTORY WORKBOOK.
In the Music Theory section, you will review many of the concepts you learned in Book 1. You'll also learn more about key signatures, and learn how to create major and minor scales and chords. Challenging new rhythms will also be introduced, and your skills in music notation will be enhanced.
In the Music History section, you will learn about the lives of great composers of the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic Periods, and the 20th century. Because listening to the music of a composer is a great way to learn about his or her style of writing, you are encouraged to listen to the compositions referred to in the history section, or to listen to other works by the composers you are studying. Your teacher or a librarian can help you find good recordings.
Continue to have fun as you explore the exciting world of msuic theory and music history. Best of luck!
