Nu Couché, Ciel de Deu, Op. 32
Composer: Bruno Ducol
Publisher: Alphonse Leduc
Instrumentation: Flute and Electronics (3 bass flutes, C flute double flute 1, electronics)
Nu Couché, Ciel de Feu is a monodrama for three bass flutes, first doubling C flute, and electronic device. Based on an Aztec legend, the three flutists are set against spoken, whispered, and shouted words with Spanish and French texts about volcanoes. The flutists are also required to speak text that interacts with the recording. Extended techniques such as key clicks, singing, and mircrotones are employed. All performance directions are written in French. This work includes the performance CD with spoken word by Karla Arizmendi.
