Description
Orleans Strut composed by Cameron Wilson
Written for Flute and Harp
Includes score and parts
Orleans Stut for flute and harp was commissioned by the Lyrebird Ensemble in 2013 and premiered at the National Flute Association Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. Inspired by the sounds of Dixieland jazz from New Orleans and the 1930's gypsy jazz of guitarist Django Reinhardt, the piece fuses together a unique blend of swing jazz, gypsy-inspired motifs, ragtime, Dixieland flavored melodies and French classical impressionism. The name “Strut” stems from the idea of strutting one's stuff with a musical swagger, and it also alludes to the tempo- neither too fast nor too slow, but in th pocket.
