Peony for Amplified Flute and Audio Playback by Mary Kouyoumdjian
Commissioned by The National Flute Association for the 2019 High School Soloist Competition, and dedicated to Katie Cox
Peony is a celebration of life after loss. This piece is in dedication to flutist and dear friend Katie Cox, whose beautiful garden full of peonies in Fairbanks, Alaska celebrates exactly that.

For performance and rehearsal with a sound engineer: Mixed stereo backing track (48khz AIFF)
For personal reference and practice: Practice stereo backing track (mp3) ; MIDI mockup of the piece (mp3)
Backing Track: There is a mixed stereo backing track that is to be played to the audience (48khz). Rehearsal letters include timecodes to assist home practice.
Mixing: It is important that the backing track be mixed as an equal member of the performance to the live flute. The flute should be amplified.
Live Processing: Light reverb on the flute.
