Piccolo Concerto by Avner Dorman
For Piccolo with Piano Reduction
Published by G. Schirmer, Inc.
Includes score and piccolo part
The Piccolo Concerto has three movements – fast, slow, fast. The materials are drawn from diverse genres and styles: baroque and classical music, ethnic music, jazz and popular music. This work may be performed as orchestrated or with piano accompaniment. In the first and third movements, the beat should be kept steady. Tempo markings should be followed as accurately as possible (in the piano reduction, this may require the omission of certain notes.) Often, the piccolo part is designed to sound like an improvisation. In these places, some limited rhythmic freedom may be applied. This is especially true whenever the piccolo has very short durations, which should be performed like ornaments.
