Pipings for Flute and Organ
Publisher: Augsburg Fortress
Instrumentation: Flute and Organ
This is a collection of eight new compositions for flute and organ, which came about after a conversation between a flutist and organist at a church musician conference. The compositions are varied in mood and style, exploring the colors and technical capabilities of each instrument, and offer a variety of possibilities for liturgical use and concert programming.
The contents are:
John Jones, A Welsh Tryptych
David Evan Thomas, Carol Suite (Prelude, O Jesulein Suss, The Lamb of God, Wexford Carol)
Arron David Miller, Estampie
Bruce Neswick, Elegy “CGH”
Karen P. Thomas, Sonus et Vita (Variations on Hidegard Von Bingen's Laus Trinitati)
David Lasky, Suite Brevis (Dance, Litany, Rondeau)
Frank Ferko, Te Lucis Ante Terminum (Introduction and Variations on a Medieval Chant)
Lynn L. Petersen, Whirlwind Duo
The compact disc is a recording of the pieces, so that the flutist and organist can hear the different pieces.
