Preface:
Pisco is the national drink of Chile and Peru. A high-proof spirit. And what do we associate with Poland if not high-proof spirits? In my piece I mix elements from Latin American music with Polish folk music, hence the title. In parts 'Pisco' is based upon the acoustic scale. This scale plays an important part in many pieces by Karol Szymanowski, who was inspired by the folk music of the southern Polish region of Podhale (the foothills of the Carpathians). In third, final, section of the piece influences from Latin American and jazz music are predominant: rhythmical precision meets freedom and improvisation. Enjoy playing!
