Description
Psalm 149
For soprano, flute, finger cymbals and tambourine
By Nancy Nourse
The Psalms of David are not only the oldest hymns of Christianity, but they share as well an important liturgical foundation with Judaism. Despite their ancient origins, the psalms are particularly timeless and intensely human in their expression. The range of emotions revealed — such as those of pain, loss and fear as well as that of joy — are just as timely in today's society as they would have been in the distant, Old Testament past.
