Serenade to Eve, after Rodin
Publisher: Theodore Presser
Instrumentation: Flute and Guitar
A modern American composer, he also performs with several different symphonies and chamber ensembles. The idea of this piece came to the composer after a multi-media performance at the Phildelphia Rodin Museum. The larger-than-life sculptures of Adam and Eve being banished from Paradise added a bold dimension to the program. He found Eve's grief, terror and shame overwhelming, and found himself playing to Eve, serenading this tragic figure.
