The National Flute Choir, conducted by Amy Rice Blumenthal, is a group of 20 professional flutists from across the USA. Representing 14 states, they come from Alaska to Florida, Maine to Southern California, and many points in between. The flutes played include Piccolo, Eb Flute, C Flute, Flute d’Amour, Alto Flute, Bass Flute and Contrabass Flute, representing a span of six octaves.
Silver is the tenth CD recorded by The National Flute Choir. Previous CDs include Over the Edge, Romancing the Flute, Christmas Flutes, High Altitude, Christmas Flutes Encore!, Special Occasions, Here We Come a'Fluting, and Breathless. ALRY Publications invited the NFC to again come to Charlotte, NC, for its fourth recording session, in honor of many successful CDs, and in preparation for ALRY's 25th anniversary. During this two day session, the NFC recorded three CDs. Silver includes a wide sampling of recent original compositions from ALRY's extensive catalog. Some pieces are mellow and contemplative, while others are lighthearted and exuberant. The resultant blend creates the perfect imagery for commemorating ALRY Publications' 25 years in business – its Silver celebration.
