6 Sonatas Op. 6 by Guiseppe Sammartini (1695-1750)
For two flutes (or oboes or recorders)
Edited from the first edition by Bernhard Pauler

Older brother to Giovanni Battista Sammartini, he was considered the one of the greatest oboists of his time, and was chamber music director to the Prince of Wales during the 18th century. These sonatas , with his use of counterpoint and imitation, along with melodic creativity, lift them way above the duet production of the period.
