Description
Sonata from Die Bankelsangerlieder
Composer unknown (Anonymous)
Arranged in 2012 by David Marlatt (after an existing arrangement for brass sextet)
Published by Eighth Note Publication
Duration: 1'40″
Includes score and parts
This is a short, one-movement selection (contrary to the multiple movement work the title might imply) in a late Renaissance (or very early Baroque) style.
Preface:
This piece is a standard in the repertoire for brass players thanks to an arrangement by Robert King. After the arrangement was published it was thought that it may have been written by Daniel Speer. Regardless of who wrote it, the great antiphonal writing suits 6 flutes (2 choirs of 3 flutes each).
Instrumentation:
For 6 C-Flutes in two 3-part choirs
