Spirit Dance by Graham Instrall
Flute and Marimba with an optional Marimba II or Djembe part.
Includes score and parts.
Spirit Dance, written for Daniella Ganeva (marimba) and Emma Murphy (recorder), received its first performance in October 2003 in St Giles' Cripplegate, Barbiean, London. The opening of the piece introduces the lovely, rich chorale like textures of the marimba before subtly (almost secretly) giving way to the sweet timbre of the flute melody. The main body of the piece (the 'Spirit Dance') requires both players to articulate their rhythms very accurately as they tessellate the syncopations of their respective lines.
