Sunswept (2005) composed by Adrienne Albert
Written for Flute and Piano
Includes score and parts
Duration. 5 minutes
The genesis of a piece of music sometimes has an interesting evolution. Originally conceived as the final movement to a horn and piano sonata, “Climate Control”, this work took on a different interpretation when I rewrote it for clarinet and piano and titled it “Windswept”. “Sunswept” for flute and piano is yet again a reworking of that original horn piece. The agility and range of the flute make it the perfect instrument for this work that sweeps through the range of both flute and piano and creates sunny interpretations of the cascading motifs of triplets. “Sunswept” is a playful and lyrical interchange between the instruments with a jazzy interlude in the middle.
