Susato Dance Suite from Danserye (1551) by Tylman Susato (1500-1562)
Arranged for 6 flutes by David Marlatt
Includes score and parts
Susato Dance Suite (from Danserye) was taken from a much larger suite originally for four recorders, now arranged for six flutes. Style is everything in these short pieces – brilliant fortes are contrasted with smooth lyrical playing. The ensemble must work together to match articulations, dynamics, and style. There is an optional percussion part which would add a lot to the sonority of the ensemble, but is not required.
