Turkey in the Straw – Theme and Variations on the Original Folk Tune by Ary van Leeuwen
For 3 C Flutes and Alto Flute (or 2 C Flutes and 2 Clarinets; or Flute, Oboe and 2 Clarinets)
Includes score and parts for all above instrumentation
Ary van Leeuwen's variations on Turkey in the Straw is one of the most popular items ever published by the publishing house founded by Albert J. Andraud, former English Horn soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. It became part of the Southern Music Company catalog when Mr. Andraud retired from the publishing business. Since this edition was first published in 1934, it has never been out of print, and has made its way onto solo and ensemble contest lists in many states. In keeping with standard practice at the time of its appearance, Turkey in the Straw was issued in performance parts only. Since that time, numerous performers hace been hampered in rehearsal by the lack of a full score. In 1996, as part of Southern Music Company's commitment to make only the finest materials available to customers, a full score and new set of parts have been prepared. The parts have been printed on single-sided sheets of paper, in order to relieve the performers of the burder of dealing with awkward page turns.
