Picnic With Sheilah

Procession of the Ants

I found these pieces in my father’s papers, and thought they needed to be published.  Titles were needed, so I selected two that seemed to express the spirit of the music.  “Picnic With Sheilah” is a clear representation of the personality of our dog, Sheilah, on an outing, and Sheilah is much like my  father’s dog, Shep, who loved to play and go on excursions.  Sheilah and Shep, and my father, are also much-alike: fun-loving, dedicated to life, and very ingratiating.  “Procession of the Ants” had to be part of the picnic, because you can’t have a picnic without lots of militant, self-important, invasive small creatures. — Judith Anne Still
