Vignettes, commissioned by Naomi Seidman and Cristina Ballatori, is a set of miniatures depicting three easily imagined scenes: an active conversation, a rainy Sunday on the couch (with a book and a cup of hot chocolate), and a rather rebellious performer in the Classical style.
Percussion: two shakers (egg shakers are fine)
triangle with two beaters
finger cymbals (or a different sized triangle)
The percussion is easiest to use if 1) both flutists are sitting and 2) if the traingle is clamped to the lip of the music stand. (one finger cymbal may also be clamped to the stand for ease of playing.)
“The Wallflower” requires the use of the following syllables: cha, tsa, ch, ka, cho, ts, t, k. These are used in a 'beat-box' style and will produce a percussive effect.
