This little up-tempo quintet was designed to provide literature to the fledgling group looking to spread their wings with just a bit of fun in their program.
The Two Step was a fast ballroom dance popular in America during the late 19th and early 20th century. John Philip Sousa's Washington Post March was popular during its time as an exmaple of a Two Step dance and as a result helped it gain international fame. The two-step gradually replaced the waltz as a popular dance.
The name Wigglesworth doesn't refer to anything/anyone specific beyond the composer remembering a series of cartoons (Hoppity Hooper, Rocky and Bullwinkle et al) by Jay Ward and company from the early 1960's where one of the characters' names was Professor (sometimes Uncle) Waldo P. Wigglesworth.
