Duration: 2 minutes

Winter’s Gifts represents an alternative musical approach to the traditional holidays celebrated in December. As an invitation to remember the more ancient image of the gifts of winter, the piece recalls the celebration of the Winter Solstice, marking the shortest day of the year and the beginning of a period which encourages introspection and a setting aside of some of the usual activities of the other seasons. In many parts of the world, winter brings the changes in the weather which greatly modify not only our lives but also the lives of the plants and animals around us. Winter’s Gifts reminds us to take a break from the frenzy which often seems to overtake us in December, and briefly step back into a different time and space
