(2002) Written for the National Flute Association High School Soloist Competition.

Night Flight was inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupery's novel, and seeks to portray some images from the novel, or at least how I imagine certain scenes.  In thenovel, the heroism and courage of early aviators is vividly portrayed as the central hero– a pilot — struggles to save his plane.  In part, this piece is a celebration of such courage and heriosm.
