All three of these compositions are arranged for six concert flutes with the option of alto flute and bass flute performing parts five and six. A unique feature is that they are also greatly enhanced through the additions of a Native American flute, a rattle, a drum, and a rain stick as indicated in the scores.
If a Native American flute is not available, a concert flute may be utilized. An appropriate rattle is a very simple one made out of a gourd on a stick. The drum should have a large head to allow for the special effects and desired resonance.
