This well-known Christmas tune takes on a new mood and style in this arrangement.  The introduction employs some unfamiliar harmony to a familiar melody line in a slow legato passage.  By surprise, the orchestration breaks into a presto tempo and continues throughout the remainder of the piece. 

This arrangement is neither difficult rhythmically or technically demanding. It must be played up to tempo to obtain the full effect of the music. God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen may be in a minor key, but its message is definitely a major one.
