Selected from the Vocalises of Marco Bordogni (1788-1856)
Compiled and edited by Larry Clark and Sean O’Loughlin
Published by Carl Fischer
Marco Bordogni (1788–1856), a celebrated tenor of the early 19th century, wrote these vocalises during his later career as a teacher of singing. These vocalises are considered to be some of the most musically appealing in the vocal repertoire. They have been carefully transcribed and arranged to be suitable for use in the study of the flute. Playing lyrical music is the vehicle by which instrumentalists improve their musicianship. With these etudes, the student will work on phrasing, tone quality, and line direction. Sonority of tone is a key element in successfuly mastering the etudes. This collection combines fifty-four of the most popular Bordogni vocalises and continuously works on these important musical skills. The etudes contain a wealth of material to build technical facility in a wide variety of keys. This edition presents the material in a pedagogical sequence that will progress from the easiest keys and rhythms to the more difficult.
