In performance, the live flute should balance comfortably with the recording. Arcana requires only a CD player. However, if possible, the flute can be very slightly amplified, to better blend with the tape part-the flute shouldn't sound amplified. A monitor for the flutist is helpful, especially in a hall with speakers above or in front of the flutist.
