Arietta is Italian for a 'little aria' but also a 'little breeze'. However, the piece has no extra-musical programmes, so the performer and listeners are free to imagine this for themselves. It is loosely a Theme and Variations, composed in four short sections, but through composed without breaks. An expressive piece. For flute alone.
