Inspired by a sculpture of the same name by American sculptor Richard Hunt, and comissioned by the artist, Bridging and Branching is “based on cells which exist in varying environments that change throughout the work. Its title also implies ways of linkage between the two instruments and the music is influenced by contemporary trends, jazz, Baroque, and Renaissance music. ” -from Program Notes by the composer.
