The present first edition reproduces the original text in today’s notation.  Editorial additions (accidentals, dynamics) are marked by smaller type; ties and slurs by dotted lines;  strokes, appogiaturas and trills are included in parenthesis. With the exception of a few performing instructions printed in smaller type above the corresponding staff. the editor intentionally omitted further suggestions for execution to stimulate the player to look up Quantz’s “Essay of a Method for Playing the Traverse Flute” for himself.  This publication was made possible by the Music Department of the Royal Library of Copenhagen.
