A French pianist, composer and professor of piano at the Conservatoire de Paris, Alphonse Duvernoy (1842-1907) composed the Concertino, Op45 in 1899 for the Paris Conservatoire’s annual examination for flute students. This dramatic and technically difficult piece has become a standard of the flute repertoire.
