Daily Exercises for the Flute by Julius Baker
Edited by Alan Cox
It’s back! After a several year hiatus, this flute player’s “must have” is finally back in print, and looking better than ever!
Presenting the concepts of Major, Minor, and Modal Scales; broken and regular Seventh Chord Arpeggios; Diatonic Thirds and Sixths; Studies and Etudes starting simply with Quintachords, introducing the scalar patterns, gradually moving into two-octave scales, and finally into the whole range of the flute. The Thirds and Sixths are also arranged to cover 2nds, 4ths and 5ths and 7ths. Includes a “High Note Fingering Chart”. The etudes, studies, and duets included serve to present examples of the included techniques into practice.
“By diligent and careful work on these daily exercises, students will build a flawless technical foundation on the flute, and more advanced players will keep themselves in shape. ” “These studies have been my own personal warm-up for a large part of my career.” — Julius Baker
