A dreamscape is a surrealistic landscape or scene with the strangeness or mystery characteristic of dreams. I like to think of this piece as a musical representation of such, moving unpredictably throughout a vast and contrasting dreamscape. There are moments of peace and tranquility that suddenly give way to something more mysterious and mischievous.

I’ve always been interested in the wide range of non-traditional sound effects available on the flute. A few of those extended techniques, such as singing while playing and flutter tongue are used to add to the dream-like textures throughout the piece.
