Composed by Jules Mouquet
For flute and piano
Published by Henry Lemoine
A French composer, his main influences were the late Romantic and Impressionistic composers. This piece was composed for the Paris Conservatoire's concours in 1909. The Concours du Conservatoire was a yearly event, were the students had to play a piece of repertoire (usually specifically composed for this event) before a panel of judges. The composer added a little phrase to the start of the piece, that says “Do you want, in the name of the Muses, to play for us a harmonius air on your flute?”.
