Best known today for his Daily Exercises, Matheus Andre Reichert (1830-1880) was a Belgian flute prodigy and early exponent of the Boehm System whose performances led him to tour worldwide. A trip to Brazil in 1859 resulted in his settling there, and Reichert is considered among the originators of the Brazilian genre that became choros.
