Tilmann Dehnhard is a creator of music which specializes in unusual playing and sound techniques. In Endlos, he combines modern playing technique with extended breathing techniques. Dehnhard sets up the score with fingering patterns and playing instructions to approach intonationally the nuanced pitch changes that often require small variations around a single note. Many changes of meter in this piece for advanced players support the rhythmic differentiations which creates an energetic expressive solo. The use of circular breathing perfects the flow of the work, whose sound world is hard to escape. A ring-keyed flute with a B-foot is recommended, as well as previous knowledge of contemporary flute playing.
