Fervore by George Tsontakis
For Piccolo and Piano
Fervore was commissioned by Susan Glaser and premiered on May 1, 1992 at Weill Recital Hall. The title (“fervor”) reflects a passionately anti-war sentiment, ironic, since the piccolo (or fife) has often been associated with war and drums. A thoughtful narrative pacing is necessary to put this abbreviated drama across.
