Four young stars of the international flute scene (Mathieu Dufour, Emmanuel Pahud, Emily Beynon, Kazushi Saito) have asked well-known composers to write short and accessible pieces for solo flute.  Pieces not only for professionals – enjoyable for both soloists and audience alike.  The resulting collection is an extraordinary array of colors, musical language and technical levels that vary from the immediately playable to the more challenging.  In any case, these little pieces of our own time are a venture into brand-new territory, each bringing it’s own rewards.  These solos are also highly suitable as concert pieces or for competitions.
