The compositions in this collection demonstrate just how varied and rickly colorful new music can be.  Because of the totally different approaches taken by these composers–who, incidentally, are all outstanding flautists themselves–the resulting works represent a borad specturm of form, style, rhythm, timbre and tonal language.  And within the bounds of difficulty level, they also encompass nearly all technical aspects of flute playing.
