Fluten is a large-scale flute choir work by Vincenzo Sorrentino. A slow introduction leads into the main, Allegro, section. With it's ostinati and overlapping entries of a five-note motif, one might percieve a hint of Asian flavor. As the work increases in intensity, the increasingly fast rhythms and fragmentation give an impression of church bells. Frequently modulating but not excessively difficult, this requires rhythmic and stylistic precision from the ensemble.
