Quelle est cette odeur agreable? is translated to mean “Whence is that goodly fragrance flowing?” The four measure introduction is followed by the four stanzas of the carol. Stanza 1 is a six voice harmonization, repeated for the second stanza. Stanza 3 is a four-voice treatment. The fourth stanza features a five-part texture, with the alto flute presenting the melody. A four measure Coda concludes the carol.
