Description
French Suite #3 BWV814
Composer: Bach, JS
Publisher: Southern Music Co.
Instrumentation: Flute and Guitar
Originally written for harpsichord between the years of 1722 and 1725, this one of six suites, and were called French Suites to differentiate them from the English suites. It is in b minor, and the movements are Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Menuet with trio, Gavotte and Gigue. The Gavotte is also known as Anglaise, a dance type very similiar to the Gavotte but without the gavotte's characteristic two quarter-note upbeat. The menuet theme will sound familiar to listeners, as it was used as the Theme C in the popular game Tetris.
