Written and recorded in 1984 by Canadian singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen, “Hallelujah” was not an instant hit, but rose to fame and popularity as became recorded by other singers in years. “Hallelujah” was also used in the 2001 movie “Shrek” which also spurred renewed interest in the song.
