Written for virtuoso violinist Pablo Sarasate and a favorite standard showpiece of the violin repertoire, this piece is an 8-minute delight, full of catchy melodies and sparkling passage work.  The celebrated flute virtuoso Denis Bourikaov, now principal flute of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, has adapted the solo part to become a flute showpiece, as recorded on his 2009 CD of violin repertoire transcribed for flute.
