Impovisation is the technique of producing something 'on the spot' which has not been pre-rehearsed.  In music, improvisation is the art of 'spontaneous composition'.  It is often referred to as 'Jamming', 'Soloing', or 'Busking'.  Many people who take up the flute sooner or later wich to improvise.  If they are interested in playing jazz or rock music, they will certainly encounter a large element of improvisation. 

Drawing on his extensive performing and teaching experience, James Rae provides a 'way-in' to the often daunting area of improvisation. The CD with rhythm section backing by professional jazz musicians and demonstration solos provides the right harmonic and stylistic environment for taking those first steps.
