From program notes on inside cover:
Kaleidoscope takes the form of a “theme” and variations with a slow, quasi-canonic section interpolated between variations one and two. These divisions of the work are separated by transitory passages of varying lenth and color. The theme is a succession of tightly controlled rhythmic punctuations which are boldly stated at the beginning of the work.
