He was a German inventor, who perfected the modern concert flute and improved the fingering system. He was also a virtuoso flutist, Bavarian court musician and a celebrated composer of flute music. The full title is Nel cor piu non mi sento, and is a soprano aria from act 2 of Giovanni Paisiello's 1788 opera La Molinara. The aria is very short (20 bars), and is bracketed by a short introduction and a postlude, then followed by the six variations. The flute carries the entire solo, while the guitar provides the accompaniment.
