“When I made my pilgrimage to my husband's home tour of New Orleans to meet the family, I was treated to every delicacy the city had to offer. After sampling the best Shrimp Remoulade, the #1 Gumbo Filet, an emormous Oyster Po' Boy (dressed), Monday's Red Beans and Rice, and a heaping tableful of spiced crawfish, I was escorted to a nearby Katz and Bestoff (K&B to the locals) Drug Store and Soda Fountain to try An Old Fashioned Nectar Ice Cream Soda. It was love at first sip! Katz and Bestoff has long since disappeared from New Orleans, but the memory of that special treat does not fade. In this musical concoction, each flute represents one of the ingredients – rich vanilla ice cream, sweet red Nectar Syrup, and sparkling seltzer, topped with whipped cream and the ubiquitous cherry.
