The author of this traditional Burgundian carol is unknown, but Frenchman Bernard de la Monnoyne wrote lyrics sometime in the early 1700’s. Some 300 years later, this timeless holiday favorite has been arranged in a fresh flute quartet setting at the grade 3+ level by one of America’s finest, James Christensen.
