Pavane for flute and guitar
Composed by Gabriel Faure (1845-1924)
For flute and guitar
Arranged by Stefan Nesyba
Published by Schott
Includes flute part and guitar score
One of the leading French composers of his generation, Faure is considered to be the link between the end of Romanticism and the modernism of the second quarter of the 20th century. Written in 1887 for piano, it is better known for its orchestration by the composer. Obtaining its rhythm from the slow processional Spanish court dance of the same name, the piece ebbs and flows from a series of harmonic and melodic climaxes, conjouring a cool, somewhat haunting, Belle Epoque elegance.
