Plaisir d'amour, Op91 – Fantasia and Variations – composed by Benoit Tranquille Berbiquier (1782-1838)
Edited by Eckart Haupt for Flute and Piano
Includes score and parts
This Fantasie and Variations offers the soloist an amazing challenge to work with an accompanist rather than another flutist, since many of Berbiguier's pieces are written for two flutes. In the original publication, there are a lot of annotations, especially dynamic markings, in the print, which were of course respected for the new edition. They have been corrected where necessary. However, the interpreter should realize that these expression marks relate to the described sound ideal of the “gentle tone” and that they are therefore to be relativized. The variations are suitable for lessons and performance. They may be played by pupils who prepare for music college. If interpreted by ambitious and talented musicians, these duets may become tonal masterstrokes.
