Prelude on Greensleeves by Richard Purvis
Flute Choir adaptation by Martin Melicharek
Scored for 3 C Flutes, Alto Flute, Bass Flute and Contrabass Flute
Includes score and parts
This prelude is based on the organ piece by Richard Purvis, a twentieth century American organist, composer and teacher. It was originally composed in 1944, while the composer was serving in the US Army. Place yourself in the narthex of a large cathedral on Christmas Eve as this prelude begins. The first cords of the string stops break the silence of the night. The celestial chords of the strings are broken by the strains of the melody, with the final notes being the sounds of chimes.
